After
President Obama’s State of the Union address, Rep. Mike Lee gave the
Tea Party’s official response. Since you might not have time to watch
the entire thing, here is a quick clip (above) plus our six most important takeaways from the speech:
1. The Boston Tea Party was just the beginning of the American Revolution. The Tea Party has done a great job speaking out against our corrupt government, but now it is time to start changing it.
2. President Obama is right about one thing: Inequality is our biggest problem. However, he has not done anything to make it better.
3. Obamacare is an “inequality godzilla.” It makes it more difficult more Americans to access affordable health care, and it needs to be addressed soon.
4. No one is blameless. By refusing to work with the
other side and engaging in government favoritism, both parties are to
blame for the government’s failure to reduce inequality.
5. The Republican party needs to step up. Countless
senators and representatives are reaching across the aisle and working
on bills to reform education, the justice system and taxes on middle
class. However, none of those bills will pass without support from the
GOP establishment.
6. There is still hope. More Americans than ever are
speaking out against the ineptitude of our federal
government. Once we
convert that awareness into action, true progress will be made.
It all boils down to the notion that America is at a turning point.
We can either keep doing what we’ve been doing, or we can hold ourselves
(and our leaders) to a standard we haven’t seen in a long time – a
standard of honesty, integrity and progress.
