Obama Issues Executive Order: Tells Government To Prepare For…Global Warming
Michael Miller
Barack Obama issued yet another executive order Friday – this one directing a federal government-wide effort to boost preparation in all states and local communities for the impact of global warming.
According to The Washington Times, the action orders federal agencies to work with states to build “resilience” against major storms and other weather extremes. Obama’s order directs that infrastructure projects like bridges and flood control take into consideration climate conditions of the future, which might require building structures larger or stronger (at a higher price tag, of course, all based on faulty science.)
“The impacts of climate change — including an increase in prolonged periods of excessively high temperatures, more heavy downpours, an increase in wildfires, more
severe droughts, permafrost thawing, ocean acidification and sea-level rise — are already affecting communities, natural resources, ecosystems, economies and public health across the nation,” the presidential order said. “The federal government must build on recent
progress and pursue new strategies to improve the nation’s preparedness and resilience.”
The White House is also setting up a task force (Democrats love task forces) of state and local leaders to offer advice to the federal government, with several Democratic governors having agreed to serve and at least one Republican governor, from the U.S. territory of Guam.
Incidentally, I’m sure Guam’s governor agreed to serve on the task force based on a dire prediction from Democrat Congressman Hank Johnson (GA), who feared in 2010 that the apparently fragile island would “tip over and capsize” if 8,000 Marines were to be stationed there. Were that to be the case, God only knows what global warming would do to Guam.
{Thankfully) most of Obama’s climate-change agenda has stalled in Congress (hence, the executive order), and the administration says the new order recognizes that global greenhouse gases continue to rise, “making further damage from global warming inevitable.”
Unfortunately [for global warming and green house gases fanatics], a recent United Nations climate report found that while yes, green house gas emissions are rising, “there may also be … an overestimate of the response to increasing greenhouse gas and other anthropogenic [man-made] factors.”
Conveniently, even though it admitted an exaggeration of man’s effect on the environment, the UN report conveniently left out the fact that the planet has largely stopped warming over the last 15 years.
Regardless, our “green” president stubbornly trudges on [to the delight of environmentalist wackos], as evidenced by this comment during a speech at Georgetown University in June:
“The question is not whether we need to act. The question is whether we will have the courage to act before it’s too late.”
Yeah, well, too bad Barack Obama doesn’t feel the same level of urgency about the federal budget – or stopping the bleeding from his “landmark achievement,” ObamaCare.
One (this “one,” anyway) gets the feeling that whenever this administration has its back to the wall over the latest scandal, controversy or screw-up, Obama simply spins the “Wheel of Fortunate” to determine the next “pivot” – to which he will turn in desperate hopes of changing the subject.
By the way, Al Gore is reported to be “giddy” over Obama’s latest executive order.
